OPEN CALL FOR ARTISTS IN BERLIN: APPLY NOW!

As part of TOUR 2024, the artists’ collective Mestizx is organising an open call for multilingual artists. The planned performance can include different formats, such as spoken word, music, poetry, slam, short stories or narratives.  The events will take place: 31.08.2024, 20.09.2024. & 27.09.2024 Apply NOW to take part in our programme!

In collaboration with: Sources d’Espoir e.V., MaMis en Movimiento e.V., Stadtbibliothek Pankow, Kinderclub Der Würfel, BENN Buch, STZ Buch, Bildungsverbund Berlin-Buch.

Our focus:

Multilingualism:
We are looking for artists* who want to work with words and/or perform in their native language. The focus of TOUR 2024 is on the languages spoken by the migrant communities in Buch and Karow, including Arabic, Persian, Turkish, Ukrainian, Russian, etc.

Participation of the audience:
We are looking for artists who want to involve the audience in their performances. We want to involve the audience and develop formats that reflect the diversity of the residents of Buch and Karow and move them. Surprise us with your proposal!

A fee in accordance with LAFT’s recommendation will be provided.

The performance must not exceed a duration of 30 minutesBoth professional artists and enthusiastic amateurs are welcomeNo age restriction Artworks with discriminatory content will not be accepted

Selection criteria

The curators of this open call are the collective Mestizx.

The selection is made with the aim of presenting a wide range of languages and formats. Creativity, originality and the connection to the festival theme will be taken into account when selecting the artists.

The selected artists will be invited for interviews. Please note that we will not be able to give individual feedback to each applicant.

About the open call

As part of “TOUR 2024”, the Mestizx collective aims to promote artistic expression and narratives in the urban space to showcase the diversity of native languages spoken in our city. An essential aspect of this open call is the prioritisation of languages that have experienced structural discrimination, colonisation and oppression. We encourage all those who have faced this systematic discrimination to apply.
