VOICES IN PUBLIC SPACE

2025
Process|Public space

VOICES IN PUBLIC SPACE explores public space from a feminist migrant perspective.

📍 Where? Stadtteilbibliothek Buch, Wiltbergstraße 19-23, 13125 Berlin
📅 When? Mondays, 1–3 PM

Through weekly workshops, mapping, and cultural interventions, we create a safe space for collective research on the use and perception of public space in Berlin-Buch from the perspective of women and FLINTA* persons. We make our experiences visible and propose new collective strategies, reflecting on access, safety, and participation in the city.

The library becomes a space for exchange and collective knowledge production. As a result, we develop a publication documenting our research, which will be presented to district and city officials responsible for gender equality.

These workshops and actions are intended for people with refugee and migration experiences living in Buch and the surrounding areas.

Join us in shaping new narratives in Berlin-Buch.

VOICES IN PUBLIC SPACE is funded within the framework of the Gender Budgeting Wettbewerb 2025.

*FLINTA is an acronym in German that stands for Frauen (women), Lesben (lesbians), Intergeschlechtliche (intersex), Nicht-binäre (non-binary), Trans (transgender), and Agender persons.

Content comment
Experiences with discriminatory behaviour will be discussed – both from the perspective of those affected and those who practice it. The event requires the willingness and openness to deal with power dynamics and one’s own privileges. Affected persons are supported in finding a self-determined way of dealing with their experiences.
